Along came yoga …

yoga, meditation and breathwork have become my go to tools to manage stress, anxiety and any challenges I am faced with in life. but it was not always like that and my body told me so. burn out, low mood, destructive thoughts were part of my need to achieve and succeed as an academic, mother, wife and friend. life was not fun. yet I wanted to live, laugh, be happy, feel joy and experience love for myself and others. along came yoga …

Christine Rivers Phd

Over the last fifteen years I have gained extensive experience in learning and teaching through various senior leadership roles in higher education. despite my professional success I felt empty. yoga, meditation, breathwork and coaching were my tools to access my inner resources. I learned to feel complete. I changed the way I think, feel and experience life. it is a privilege to share these tools and help others to use their inner resources skilfully.

My story so far …

I used to believe meditation and yoga are boring. I thought I ought to at least try but I struggled to maintain a regular practice, sit still, focus and make time. My life was 100 miles an hour every day. I already had a stellar academic career, a family and sporting aspirations. I used to believe success is linked to promotions, awards, the next PB or looking a certain weight, portraying a certain life. But I was unhappy. All I wanted was to feel complete, at peace and for that I had to let go of old beliefs, habits, my controller and surrender.

Surrender

One day I decided to go on a journey within, to open my heart, study and lean into my life. My need to connect with myself was bigger than ever before. coaching was my first point of contact, then meditation and yoga, breathwork and lifestyle medicine. I struggled, questioned, doubted myself and life. But on this journey I realised that I have inner resources that I can use to support me and make behaviour changes that last. I learned to surrender, not take things to personal, cultivated gratitude, kindness and inner peace. I feel complete.

If I can, you can.

Being on this journey showed me that my gift is to teach and help others on their journey in various ways and to use my academic background, different knowledge systems and love for learning and sharing. Yoga, meditation, breathwork and coaching are my tools. They have helped me to cope with depression, anxiety, panic attacks, stress, vulnerability and heal my relationship with myself. for me Success means to touch one person a day. Might it be you today?
